Polly the parrot knows something important, but she's not talking! What secret is she hiding?
Polly the parrot had been Captain Whiskers' companion for as long as anyone could remember. She was a beautiful bird with bright red, blue, and yellow feathers, and she could mimic any sound she heard.
But lately, Polly had been acting very strange. She would fly around the ship, squawking and chattering, but whenever anyone asked her what was wrong, she would just say, "Polly wants a cracker!" and fly away.
"Something's bothering Polly," Mittens observed one morning as she watched the parrot pace back and forth on the ship's railing.
"You're right," Captain Whiskers agreed. "She's been acting this way for days. I wonder what's on her mind."
The crew tried everything to get Polly to talk. They offered her the best crackers, sang her favorite songs, and even tried to bribe her with shiny objects. But Polly just kept saying, "Polly wants a cracker!" and nothing else.
Finally, Captain Whiskers had an idea. "Maybe Polly needs to feel safe and comfortable to share her secret," he said. "Let's create a quiet, cozy spot for her."
So the crew built a special perch for Polly in the ship's cabin, complete with soft cushions and her favorite treats. They dimmed the lights and played gentle music.
"Now, Polly," Captain Whiskers said softly, "we're here to listen. What's troubling you?"
Polly looked around at the caring faces of her crewmates. She took a deep breath and began to speak.
"I... I found something," she said quietly. "Something that might be dangerous."
"What did you find?" Mittens asked gently.
"I found a message in a bottle," Polly explained. "It was floating in the water near the ship. The message says that there's a treasure hidden on Skull Island, but it's guarded by a terrible sea monster!"
The crew gasped. A treasure on Skull Island! But a sea monster? That sounded very dangerous.
"Polly, why didn't you tell us sooner?" Captain Whiskers asked.
"I was scared," Polly admitted. "I didn't want anyone to get hurt because of me. But I also didn't want to keep such important information to myself."
Captain Whiskers smiled. "Polly, you're part of our crew. We face dangers together, and we share both good news and bad news. Thank you for trusting us with this information."
The crew discussed what to do. They could avoid Skull Island entirely, or they could try to find a way to get the treasure safely.
"Let's go to Skull Island," Captain Whiskers decided. "But we'll be very careful and work together to outsmart the sea monster."
So they set sail for Skull Island, with Polly flying ahead to scout the area. When they arrived, they could see the island in the distance, dark and mysterious.
Polly flew back to the ship. "I found the treasure!" she reported. "It's in a cave on the island. But I also saw the sea monster - it's sleeping near the entrance!"
The crew came up with a plan. They would use their teamwork and cleverness to distract the sea monster while one of them retrieved the treasure.
In the end, they discovered that the "sea monster" was actually a friendly whale who had been protecting the treasure from real dangers. The whale was happy to share the treasure with the brave crew.
And Polly learned that sharing secrets with friends who care about you is much better than keeping them bottled up inside.
The End.
